Horses have the amazing ability to put us under their spell. Those of us that are privileged to be around them don’t mind being called “horse crazy.” It’s a status we all enjoy having. It is the majestic power of experiencing a group of horses running in a pasture. It’s the thrill of a reiner executing spins with amazing speed and running into a powerful sliding stop. It’s the feeling of a hunter under saddle horse’s propulsion and suspension at a trot. It’s the intensity with which you watch a cutter mesmerize a cow. It’s the strength of a jumper easing over a fence. It’s the amazing feeling of grace riding a western pleasure lope. It’s the relaxing feeling of experiencing nature on a trail ride. Whatever makes you “horse crazy”, it’s all about the power of a ride.
My husband, Jake, daughter, Makenzie and I live on a small horse property that has a spectacular view of the Colorado foothills. I grew up in Eastern Nebraska but fell in love with Colorado when I came to Colorado State University to study Equine Science and never left!
I'm hoping that by relaying my excitement about horses, joys about my successes, frustrations and hardships, it will help show what the power of a ride means to me.
We are so thankful for having such an amazing girl in our lives. We still have her memory in our heads and pawprints in our hearts. We miss you Pouchins!
